A Box for Diamonds or Old Toothbrushes
I like making cabinets to hold objects. Sometimes the objects are known and at other times it is just the form of the piece that is important. While I was Studying with James Krenov, I introduced a visitor to the workshop to JK. He was working on a small cabinet of drawers on a stand and the visitor asked what it was for. “I don’t care if they use it for diamonds or old toothbrushes,” JK replied. I like to keep that in mind when I am making something. Make the piece sing and it will hold what it holds.
